May 16th Nova Scotia Shad Fishing on the Fly

Nova Scotia Shad Fishing on the Fly is in full swing. My friend Brad and I were out from about 6:00 PM until dark, at 9:00 PM or so.

We had such a successful evening that I hesitate to give the report.

-
You know how anglers have a tendency to exaggerate. Well, rather than bring myself under suspicion I will just say it was awesome. My arm is sore today.

Brad kept one fish for his father in-law who loves a meal of Shad every year. It is apparently a Caribbean tradition.
I will see if I can get the Trinidadian recipe and post it here for those interested.

Your blog is very interesting, but I need to improve my english.
The translate is basic and I don´t understand very well the functioning of the clip.

Hello Mike,

I don't think there is any problem with you using the quotation. Thanks for the compliment on the blog. If you would like to exchange links just drop me a line.
Cheers,
Steve

Hello Jose,

Thanks for stopping by. I have the same problem with your site. I can only translate a bit. The photographs are always interesting though.

The function of the clip is: you do not have to put your fly rod down to have both hands free. Easier on the fish, easier on your equipment, easier to stay wading in fast, deep, water when tying on a new leader or fly.

Cheers,
Steve

The Dobson Clip is also a great cigar holder. I enjoy expensive cuban cigars and during a 5 minute fight with a big fish the clip alows me to save the cigar during the battle with the fish. Caught three 5 lb fish smoking the same cigar (Monte Cristo #4) the other night... with out the clip I would have A) turned green or B) thrown a good cigar away fighting the first fish!

Well, Brad;

You win the prize for this week's best new use for the original Dobsonclip.

Thanks for the note.

Your prize is your choice of; a Dobsonclip product or an evening fishing on my favourite river.

Cheers,
Steve
